The Group’s business is intimately related to Engineering. Tracing back to its historic roots, the Group was first formed with two large engineering companies – Riley Hargreaves & Co and Howarth Erskine & Co Ltd – coming together to become ‘United Engineers’. With the merger, they formed an engineering powerhouse with operations stretching from Singapore to Shanghai.
In the early days, the Group was engaged in a wide spectrum of engineering projects involving the design and construction of iron, steel and composite buildings, lattice, plate girder and suspension bridges, wharves, steel cast iron or ferro-concrete water towers, lighthouses, pontoons, mooring and marking buoys and cast and wrought iron work.
With such an impressive legacy, the Group continued to build on its strengths through the years. In recent times, it combined its expertise in construction and engineering to specialise in building engineering services: high & low-voltage electrical distribution, air-conditioning and ventilation, building automation, fire-protection, and plumbing and sanitary.
